A miniature fly necklace in sterling silver, available in polished silver or dark oxidised silver. The dark oxidised version has a deliberately blackened finish that gives the tiny details more depth.
Fly motifs have appeared in jewellery for thousands of years. In Ancient Egypt, tiny fly-shaped amulets were worn as protective pieces, while golden fly pendants were also associated with persistence, courage and honour.
This necklace is the miniature version of one of the most-loved pendants from my Entomology collection. Discreet enough for everyday wear, but unusual and inviting a closer look. Designed in London and cast using traditional lost wax casting.
MATERIALS & CARE
This necklace is available in polished sterling silver or dark oxidised sterling silver, both with 24ct gold vermeil details. The oxidised version has a deliberately blackened surface finish, designed to bring out the tiny details of the fly. As with all oxidised silver, the dark patina may soften and gently change with wear over time. If you would prefer polished silver, or any other metal, get in touch at hello@yasmineverley.com.
I do not recommend silver dip on oxidised pieces, as this will remove the oxidation. The 24ct gold vermeil is three microns thick, but over time it may begin to soften with wear and should not be polished too often. Take care using a polishing cloth on the chain as pulling the chain too hard may weaken it. Always remove your jewellery for sports or when using harsh chemicals. Please read my guide to jewellery care to ensure it lasts for many years.
Made in Thailand by skilled and trusted craftspeople. The chain is made in the UK.
SIZE & FIT
The fly pendant measures approximately 10mm x 11mm x 3mm. Available with a 16 inch, 18 inch or 20 inch chain, or without a chain.
