Leucozona lucorum.
Hoverfly stud earrings in sterling silver, available as a pair or single stud, in polished silver or dark oxidised silver. The dark oxidised version has a deliberately blackened finish that gives the tiny details more depth.
Fly motifs have appeared in jewellery for thousands of years. In Ancient Egypt, tiny fly-shaped amulets were worn as protective pieces, while golden fly pendants were also associated with persistence, courage and honour.
These studs are the earring version of one of the most-loved pendants from my Entomology collection. Discreet enough for everyday wear, but unusual enough to invite a closer look. Designed in London and cast using traditional lost wax casting.
MATERIALS & CARE
These earrings are available in polished sterling silver or dark oxidised sterling silver. The oxidised version has a deliberately blackened surface finish, designed to bring out the tiny details of the hoverfly. As with all oxidised silver, the dark patina may soften and gently change with wear over time. For another metal, please get in touch at hello@yasmineverley.com.
Solid sterling silver can become tarnished over time. If this happens, the simplest way to restore the earrings is to use a polishing cloth, taking care not to bend the posts. I do not recommend silver dip on oxidised pieces, as this will remove the oxidation. Always remove your jewellery for sports or when using harsh chemicals. Please read my guide to jewellery care to ensure it lasts for many years

SIZE & FIT
Each hoverfly measures approximately 16mm x 17mm x 4mm, plus post.
