Pearls are formed to protect a mollusc from a parasite or grit. The concepts of value in adornment, imposed by patriarchal and heteronormative standards, are outdated. In these earrings, the pearl absorbs a traditional diamond ear stud, covering it in layers of nacre and rejecting it the way a mollusc rejects a parasite.
Pair of white gold and diamond studs, one absorbed by a freeform pearl.
I do not recommend these earrings for daily wear due to the fragile nature of pearls. Keep away from perfumes and harsh chemicals.
