Pearls are formed to protect a mollusc from a parasite or grit. The concepts of value in adornment, imposed by patriarchal and heteronormative standards, are outdated. In this earring, the pearls absorb the ear lobe, covering it in layers of nacre and rejecting it the way a mollusc rejects a parasite.

Two freeform pearls forming a swelling around the ear.

I do not recommend this as an earring for daily wear due to the fragile nature of pearls. Keep away from perfumes and harsh chemicals.
