Pearls are formed to protect a mollusc from a parasite or grit. The concepts of value in adornment, imposed by patriarchal and heteronormative standards, are outdated. In these photobooth strips, a classic pearl necklaces appears to be absorbed into the face, representing the internalisation of classic beauty standards.
